Consulting

Monitoring, evaluation, learning and research for complex settings

We help NGOs, funders and universities understand what is changing in hard places, and why. Our specialism is peacebuilding but we also support wider development and humanitarian programmes from context analysis to project design all the way through to data systems and dashboards.

Systems work

Working with complexity

Conflict rarely has a single cause. Poverty, injustice, religious and ethnic division and weaponised narratives tend to reinforce one another, and linear tools like the logframe can miss the feedback loops that keep violence going.

We help partners see the whole picture. Through participatory systems mapping, the people closest to a problem, from community and religious leaders to young people and practitioners, map how these pressures connect, where the system is stuck and where change might be possible.

From there we design small, safe-to-fail pilots that probe the system, so teams can learn what works, adapt as they go and build on what takes hold. Our work with a growing coalition of peacebuilders in Jos, Nigeria, shows this in practice.
